About Kickboxing
Kickboxing refers to the sport of using martial-arts-style kicks and boxing-style punches to defeat an opponent in a similar way to that of standard boxing. Kickboxing is a standing sport and does not allow continuation of the fight once a combatant has reached the ground.
Kickboxing was originally developed to allow fighters from different striking martial arts such as Karate, Taekwondo or Kung Fu to compete directly with one another. It has, therefore, only been in existence as a martial art for a relatively short period of time, but it has become hugely popular. The different techniques taught in Kickboxing have been around for centuries; what is new is that the techniques used by these different arts have been brought together in a single martial art.
Ladies Kickboxing has become very popular because not only is Kickboxing a very effective martial art and system of fighting but it is also a fantastic and enjoyable way to develop coordination, fitness, discipline, self-confidence and balance.
